Publicity for shuttle service via annual festival
About this good practice
The shuttle service around the Upper Sûre Lake was introduced in 2020. Since its introduction the number of users is low all year long.
A new campaign informs people about the shuttle service. Firstly, intensified publicity is done in newspapers, busses, camping, hotels, etc. Secondly, the shuttle service is used as the main attraction at the yearly “Water festival” in the Upper Sûre Nature Park. Different activities are organised around the lake and the shuttle will make the connection. In this regard an animation will be in the shuttle that day, so that riding by bus will be an interesting activity. People learn about the offer in a situation without pressure.
The main actor is the Upper Sûre Nature Park. For the publicity campaign the Ministry of mobility and the Regional tourism agency are involved.

Evidence of success
The practice has started in April 2022 with the campaign. No results can be reported so far but it is visible that the number of passengers is growing.
Potential for learning or transfer
The idea by including the shuttle service as main attraction at the Water festival is to provide people with a leisure feeling. The Water Festival is an annual awareness raising event for families around the water. At the Festival people are ready and have time to discover new things. At this point we introduce the shuttle service so that people have the possibility to try the service and learn its operation mode without any pressure. In this regard we hope that people will see the advantages and use the shuttle also in a long-term perspective.
