Graphic reads: Covering Cohesion Policy in Europe, Training MOOC for journalism students

A new free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) about the European Union and Cohesion Policy is now available, thanks to a collaboration between six European universities and two journalism groups. This course helps journalism students, journalists, and anyone interested learn about the EU's Cohesion Policy and how the EU works.

Why learn about cohesion policy?

The cohesion policy course gives you a clear understanding of this important EU policy, which aims to reduce economic and social differences between regions in Europe. Our own programme, Interreg Europe, contributes to the goals of the cohesion policy, helping local, regional and national governments to develop and deliver better policy.

Although essential, the policy is often complicated. This course breaks down the basics of how the Cohesion Policy works and explains its impact on EU citizens.

What the Massive Open Online Course covers

This interactive course is available in all EU languages, making it accessible across Europe. It includes 14 modules, spanning an entire semester, and covers:

  • EU governance and institutions: Explains how the EU works
  • Deep dive into cohesion policy: Focuses on its role in regional development
  • Cross-border and collaborative journalism: Teaches techniques for covering EU issues across countries
  • Digital journalism tools: Introduces tools for modern journalism
