On Friday, April 28, 2017, the first meeting of the stakeholders interested in the FoodChains 4 Europe project took place, attended by representatives of the main food industry companies in Maramures, the Association of Traditional Producers, the four LAGs from Maramures, and the main institutions in Maramures that are active in the food industry: Technical University Cluj Napoca, North University Center Baia Mare, Faculty of Sciences and Letters, Food Products Engineering Specialization, Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Department Maramureş, and Maramureş Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In our county there is great potential for developing traditional, organic products, but in order to be competitive on domestic and foreign markets, we need to orient ourselves to high-quality products for which innovation is needed in technological processes, but also marketing and an efficient distribution network that shortens the food chain from producers to consumers.
Through this project we offer the opportunity to Maramures producers to get in touch with companies in the partner regions from the Netherlands, Great Britain, Bulgaria and Italy and to learn from their examples of good practice using and supplying innovation in regional food chains. Also the stake holders will have the opportunity to participate in project’s activity such as: inter-regional learning seminars, peer-reviews and dissemination conferences.
This network of stakeholders interested in the "Food Chains for Europe" project, which has been launched on 28 April 2017, will be an area where ideas will change, collaboration will begin first and foremost at the local and then international level, offering the University the possibility to assist the county food industry entrepreneurs with proposals for collaboration in the field of research and innovation and Veterinary Sanitary Department, with advisory and useful information.
