Potential for learning or transfer
Research and innovation are key factors to boost the competitiveness of EU industry. Meanwhile SMEs are the backbone of Europe's economy. In the past five years, they have created around 85% of new jobs and provided two-thirds of the total private sector employment in the EU. The European Commission considers SMEs as key to ensuring economic growth, innovation, job creation, and social integration in the EU.
Conecta Peme places SMEs at the centre of the innovation system. They play the main role in the process but the entire ecosystem is also encouraged to collaborate. Thus, better achievements are reached by promoting an inclusive environment. Furthermore, the programme ensures visibility, recognition, and local awareness about the SMEs.
