The head of European projects of the regional organisation, Manuel Pato, is part of the panel of speakers to talk about governance in the era of the digital information society.

The Federation of Municipalities has begun working on a new project financed by the European Union, through the Interreg Europe Programme 2021 – 2027, under Policy Objective 6, Better Governance, project that focuses on administrative capacity as an essential lever for good governance, which the representative of the FMRM, Pato, presented to the audience.

The project proposes an integrated and multidimensional approach to the administrative capacity of public authorities and institutions, taking advantage of the experience of the partners at different administrative levels (national, regional or local), as well as their interests and experience in the regulation, evaluation, monitoring or more efficient use of the elements of administrative capacity.

Therefore, the Federation of Municipalities has an important role in this consortium, since in its role of interlocutor and advisor of the 45 municipalities of the region, it will try to contribute to the improvement of the public policy instruments proposed by the partners, in relation to the measures of administrative capacity, creating the premises for a better preparation of public administrations, able to adapt to the needs of citizens, for a better performance of public services and for stronger, participative and accountable communities.

Information and Communication Technologies Priorities

The conference organised by Trend Micro, Esri España, and Sophos, and with the collaboration of the Directorate General of Digital Transformation of the Region of Murcia, the Tax Agency of the Region of Murcia, Murcia City Council, University of Murcia, and the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, focused on the Murcia Public Administrations in the face of the Next Generation Funds.

Manuel Pato, during his speech, outlined some of the priorities for the digitisation of public services and the most important aspects to be addressed, such as improving accessibility and efficiency with digital platforms and process automation. He also addressed other issues, such as e-administration, which is ‘necessary to facilitate the interaction of citizens with municipal entities through digital means’, he said.
